A light drizzle pecked the nose of Kyon Inoue as he stood just a foot away from the apartment complex's uninviting porch. Sniffling, he rolled his shoulders gently cracking his neck as quickly hid his eyes behind the mysterious lure of darkened sunglasses. It had been just shy of a month since he first stepped foot on English soil but his body had yet to get use to the lingering moisture within its atmosphere. He felt heavy despite dressing light, his movements not as swift as they used to feel as he began his morning jog.
If anyone had told Kyon a year ago he would be doing his morning ritual outside of a crowded Japan he would have called them an idiot, maybe even a liar as up until a month and a half ago he had absolutely no reason too. He was crawling his way back into the wrestling world creating a new reputation to overshadow a previous lifetime. Friends no longer friends, rivals forever rivals Kyon presence back in the locker room wasn't the most pleasant of experiences. People were weary, constantly keeping an eye upon his behavior. He may have looked like a different Kyon Inoue but he was still the same person that drunkenly shunned himself from his own successes.
The light drizzle wasn't the imagined nuisance that Kyon initially thought it was. In a way, it almost felt as if the weather was constantly keeping him refreshed as he made his way around the corner keeping note of the special advertised at the convenience store. He was light on money and any food on sale was a godsend. Luckily the locals had began to grow accustomed to his presence and his daily run began to garner waves from people that were otherwise complete strangers. Strangers in a sense that he didn't know their names but began to recognize the same faces going through their own independent routines as he was. Simply waving or nodding in response, he continued to make his way towards the Gym.
Kyon was once the life of the locker room. He had a personality that people just found themselves gravitating towards. He was the life of the party, the fun one, the one that never truly thought of the potential consequences of his rash actions. It was a both a trait that people found enjoyable and even annoying, but such annoyance was soon forgotten when he would buy the entire roster drinks after a show. Now people seemed to be afraid to even approach him, even nod a simple hello. Despite spending a year before his return preparing and rebuilding himself his once positive reputation just wasn't there anymore and Kyon began to wonder if his comeback was even going to last. Fortunately, Dahlia Lockhart took notice and would soon have news which would send him overseas.
Sound blasting through his headphones Kyon paused and began to jog in place as a familiar face stumbled herself around a corner. The first time this happened they crashed into one another, but luckily Kyon had grown accustomed to his particular spot and began waiting for her for the last week. Her hair color seemed to changed on a daily basis, but her training outfit was always the same with dark red track pants with a plain white t-shirt. Draping his headphones across his neck he put on a friendly face began to slowly jog to match the pace of his new training mate."Hey Hana!"
If there was one person in the world that constantly fed Kyon's competitiveness it was Shinji Yamazaki. Their personalities wouldn't clash, in fact they were as close as any friends could have been but when it came to any sort of competition, be it in the ring or elsewhere, it became a battle to determine who was the best at whatever task was presented in front of them. Kyon was like the "Gary" to Shinji's "Ash" should one ever compare them to Pokemon. When Dahlia had received news that Yamazaki was going to be training overseas to help establish new talents that she could potentially acquire she knew that Kyon's dying enthusiasm would revive itself. Kyon still had to payback Shinji for legitimately knocking him out in a match together and after one slight nudge from Dahlia, Kyon was boarding an airplane.
"Oh, Kyon." Hana sighed as fought the urge to roll her eyes. Kyon was completely about fitness and Hana knew she was going to critiqued about her lack of stamina, she just ran...er jogged a quarter of a mile! If only they didn't take similar routes she could have avoided this entire mess.
Kyon just cracked a smirk and slapped Hana really hard on the back twice to try and speed up her pace. "You'll never become Stryder's favorite student at this rate, pick up the pace! Kimiko's probably already there by now." A loud ugh from Hana just made Kyon laugh as they continued to make their way towards Robbie Scott's Gym.
"Who cares if she's already there, everyone knows I suuuuuuck anyway." Hana was running on three hours of sleep. Her Digimon Adventures marathon went completely into the early morning. Time management just wasn't her forte, and a cranky Hana wasn't the most pleasant experience. "I didn't even bother fixing my hair today, just look at this mess, uuuuuugh!"
Starting to run a bit ahead of Hana, Kyon turned around and began to jog backwards so he could face her. This little trick just made Hana roll her eyes completely and "ugh" again. "So, you're naturally a brunette?" Kyon had never actually seen Hana's hair anything other than something bright and completely unnatural. She was like a living anime character. Seeing that Hana wasn't going to answer he changed the subject. "You were looking pretty good in the ring yesterday, I can tell you're finally starting to get the hang of things."
Having been an active wrestler for almost two years Hana angrily sighed. "I've been doing this for about 20 months! I'M BARELY GETTING THE HANG OF IT! Thanks, you're quite the motivator!" Definitely going to bed at 4AM when training started at 7AM wasn't Hana's best plan.
"Sorry, sorry, gee---"
Unfortunately running backwards had it's consequences as Kyon suddenly found himself on the floor having collided into something or someone. Just who or what was it?
